    st-With-442-Pulp Paper

    Application Info

Horizontal Pulper    Shaft: " /100 mm     Bore: " / 230 mm    Product: Paper Stock

    Problem

    • The stuffing box was originally designed for gland packing and was upgraded to a John Crane single non-split seal.
    • Even as the pulper started to leak the customer accepted the leakage, because of the required repair time and activity, which could cause 12-20 hrs out of production

    Solution

    • SpiralTracTM Seal Adaptor AFN8129R (316)
    • Chesterton 442 Split Seal with RSC/RSC-EP configuration

    Result

    • The SpiralTrac technology removes paper stock from around the seal face area, thereby extending the seal life.
    • With the 442 Split Seal installation future repairs do not require the equipment disassembly which results in less maintenance action. It now requires only one hour to change out the seal.
    • Flush water was reduced by 80 - 90%
    • No more paper stock leakage - house keeping issues

    Lime Kiln Support Rings Problem

    • Lubrication of the rolling surfaces of the large support rings and rollers used in their rotary kiln.

    • Typical lubrication with a synthetic oil and molybdenum disulfide applied twice per week.

    • Due to the temperature and pressure, the lubricant would break down and dry out

    Solution

    • 787 Sliding Paste

    Result

    • Increase in lubrication interval to once every two weeks.

    • 75% reduction in labor and product used, and better lubrication.

    Woodyard log feed conveyor Problem

The conveyor chains are onstantly exposed to water, dirt, bark, and acidic wood residues.  Excessive pin, bushing and sprocket wear cannot be controlled as conventional petroleum oils and greases wash out and contaminate the spray shower water

    Solution

    • The chain assembly was pressure washed to remove heavy grit deposits and immediately treated with 715 Spraflex Gold.

    • 715 displaced the water and provided immediate lubrication. 715 Spraflex was applied to the drive and idler sprockets as well

    Result

    • The mill’s environmental and safety department was impressed with the cleanliness of the lubricant and wash out resistance.
  • CASE HISTORY PULP MILL:

    601 chain

    Problem

    • In the colder months of the year, the feed system supplying logs to the lumber mill starts to freeze. In the worst case, the conveyor seizes and production is halted.
    • "Bio - oils" based on vegetable products had been tried, but quickly thicken up in cold weather.

    Solution

    • 601 Chain Drive, Pin and Bushing Lubricant

    Result

    • 601 resisted the server effects of cold weather. Because of the high solvency of 601, the lubricant cleaned off existing oil upon re-application and remained fluid. The chains are running smoother with no production delays and electricity used has decreased by 6-7%
  • 775  MOISTURE SHIELD

    775MOISTURE

    Problem

    • Moulds were corroding while in storage for a period that ranges from 3 months to one year. Previously they used Kluber Lusin for protection. This was also difficult to remove.

    Solution

    • 775 Moisture Shield

    Result

    • Easy to remove
    • No corrosion on molds
    • Reduced consumption from 24 cans to 12 cans per month

    Trimming tables
    Problem

    • The low price LPS silicone used previously required reapplication every hour.
    • LPS silicone left a residue on table that transferred to the paper

    Solution

    • 660 Silicone Lubricant

    Results

    • Only 2 applications per shift required instead of 8
    • Annual savings of $13,000 in application labour and product cost on 2 tables
